Gloria Marlene Pattee McGrath of Neptune Beach, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, July 11, 2016. Gloria was a selfless, loving wife and friend to all who knew her.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Kendall and Mary Pattee and brother, Clayton Pattee. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, CDR J. Michael McGrath, USN (Ret); sister, Cheryl Pattee Meyer (Robert); stepdaughter, Tina Antee (Terry); niece and nephews, Stacy Gunter, Larry Robinson and Michael Pattee plus many devoted friends.
Gloria graduated from Lisbon Falls High School, Lisbon Falls, ME in 1953 and from Saint Mary’s Nursing School, Lewiston, ME in 1956. Gloria and Mike met and were married in St. Petersburg, FL on June 16, 1960. She was always the dutiful Navy wife traveling and assisting her husband throughout his 31-year career. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She was a Life Member of the Navy League of the United State and served as the First Lady 2007-2009.
Her Memorial Service will be Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Gloria’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 224 N. 5th St., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 or Navy League of the United States Foundation, 2300 Wilson Blvd. #200, Arlington, VA 22201.
